Personal Address Book not loading

This is the error message that I receive every time I open my Outlook 2003
software:

"Your personal address book could not be opened. The file is eithe not
accessible or is not a personal address book. Choose Retry to use your
personal address book, or choose Cancel to not use your personal address book
with this application.
"

When I click on retry, it just spins and spins and goes back to that same
screeen and won't go anywhere else. When I click on cancel, it shuts down the
software. Help????????????????

Any particular reason you might still be using a PAB, which have been
obsolete for a few years/releases.

No, I've just been using it by default. Is there a way to bypass so that I
can get into Outlook and check e-mail???

What version of Outlook are you using? Normally you can just remove the
reference to the Personal Address Book service in your profile

control panel, mail - remove the pab from your profile.

you can try importing it into contacts but it sounds like the file is
damaged. Do you have a backup? As an FYI, Outlook 2003 is the last version
that can open the PAB. In Outlook 2007 you can only import it.
