Personal Folder not closed properly

I have an Outlook 2003 installation that is generating the “The data file
‘Personal Folders’ was not closed properly. The file is being checked for
problems.†error dialog when Outlook is launched for the first time after
booting up. It consistently occurs on first launch after bootup, goes through
the check routine and then functions OK. After the first time I can shut down
and restart Outlook without getting the error. Most other threads on this
error relate to having the PST file on a networkdrive, however in this case
both the main and archive PST's are on the local C drive. Any help would be
appreciated!

How are you shutting down Outlook at the end of the day?

Yes, Outlook is always shut down before the PC is shutdown. The behavior is
duplicated each time the PC is booted up and Outlook is launched. After it
happens the first time, Outlook can be started and stopped repeatedly without
the error, but whenever the PC has just booted up, the first time you run
Outlook the error occurs again.

This seems to indicate that, in fact, Outlook may still be running. After
closing the Outlook windows, use the Task Manager to verify there are no
more instances of the OUTLOOK.EXE process running.
