Personal folders problem

I have a strange issue with one of our users I'm hoping someone can help
with. She had a PC which was switched on and logged in but she transferred
to another department although her replacement is still using her account (
don't get me started on that bit, they've been told not to do this!) the
problem is her emails had someonhow been set up to deliver new mail to a
personal folder. This meant on ehr new PC her emails kept disappearing when
her old one was switched on.

I changed this back to mailbox which fixed the problem but without thinking
I recreated the outlook profile on the old PC to get rid of the personal
folder she no longer needed, but I didn't copy the emails over first. Now I
can't find them anywhere! they have to be on her C Drive somewhere but the
only pst file is an old archive she no longer uses. I recreated this on my
PC and everything seems to be going to an outlook.htm file in program files
but I can't find a file called on that either hers or my PC.

Does anyone have any idea what I should be looking for to get her emails back?

You would be looking for a .PST file. Normal location for the latest
versions of Outlook on Windows 2000/XP would be...

\documents and settings\<userid>\local settings\application
data\microsoft\outlook

Don't forget that local settings and application data tend to be
hidden/system folders. You will need to reconfigure Windows Explorer to
show you these types of files/folders if you expect search to work.

Hi,

Thanks for this. I already set up her hard drive to show hidden folders and
searched for every pst file and only the archive one was found. I looked in
both

C:\Documents and Settings\usernameApplication Data\Microsoft\Outlook
and
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook
and even in Program files.

Thanks anyway, I guess they're lost. I jsut can't figure out where they
could have gone if not into a pst file.

The only other file type Outlook uses is an .OST. This file is an offline
folder and tends* to mirror whatever happens to be in the Exchange mailbox.

* Assumes that syncing is being performed on a somewhat regular bases for
Outlook 97/2002 or all the time under Outlook 2003/2007s cached mode.

Look in Control Panel | Mail - you should find the location of the PST
file(s) in there.
