personal.xls file query

When I launch my Excel 2002 the workbook that is displayed is titled
"Microsoft Excel - Book 1"
If I open the VBE the Project pane displays this as VBAProject (Book 1)
I assume this is normal and correct.

It also shows a VBAProject (PERSONAL.XLS)
I am unable to find a file called PERSONAL.XLS anywhere on my system using
Search.

Can anyone explain this to me?

I have had the same problem searching for Personal.xls because it is a
hidden file. Do this. With Excel open, click on Window - Unhide. A window
will open displaying all the hidden files that are open in Excel.
Personal.xls is probably the only one. Unhide it. Now with Personal.xls on
the screen, do File - Save As. The folder in which Personal.xls resides
will be displayed. But don't stop there. The folder will be XLStart. The
problem here is that you may well have more than one XLStart folder. Click
on the down-arrow to the right of the box that shows XLStart. This will
show you the complete path.
Or once you have Personal.xls unhidden, save it. Now it is saved as an
unhidden file and you can search for it. HTH Otto
