Where is the personal.xls file located in Excel 12? ( I have no hidden
files.)

Check your settings (tools/options/general for XL 11 SP3). I think you can
put it wherever you like ... but it's usually in the 'startup' directory
IIRC.

The most likely place is here under Windows XP:

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
