PF asks password (all of a sudden)

I was working to publish my site to localhost. All of a sudden, I don't
remember what I did wrong, FP starts to ask user name and password for any
connection to the localhost (inetpub/wwwroot). There is only one user on
this comp and it is me. So I have no apssword at all. How do I stop asking
this?

Thanks,

It's actually not FP that's asking, but Windows itself. When FP asks IIS to
connect, it then checks you agains the NTFS permissions for the folders. It
could be a security update that may have changed some of the security
descriptors on the files/directories or some other random error. What often
works for me when something odd happens is to go into the IIS Management
console (through Control Panel | Administrative Tools), find the root for
the web site, right-click on it, select New | Server Extensions
Administrator then enter the name of the account I use when I login. I then
right-click again, select All Tasks > Check Server Extensions to go through
and fix errors. Sometimes it works best when running a recalculate web right
before the check server extensions.

Hope this helps

Mark,

Before doing what you suggest, I'd better tell that I already uninstalled
and re-installed IIS. But it didn't help. It still requires a User &
Password whenever I attempt to connect http://localhost/ Where should this
be hidden?
