pfbackup for non Admin accounts

Chris

Hi,

Environment:
Win XP Pro SP2
Outlook 2003 SP1

I have just come across pfbackup and have a problem in that it does not
appear on my Outlook File menu when run within my NON-Admin user logon.

What I have tried:

1. I installed pfbackup from my NON-Admin account and no entry appeared on
the Outlook file menu. ( No backup entry on the Outlook File Menu)

2. I installed pfbackup from my NON-Admin account, but using "runas" to
execute the install as with my Admin account. ( No backup entry on the
Outlook File Menu)

3. I installed pfbackup from my Admin account. ( Backup appears on the File
menu for outlook when run from my Admin account )
(Still no entry on the Outlook file menu when Outlook run from a NON_Admin
account)

Can anybody tell me how to get access to this addin from a non Admin
account. I do not run as an Admin for my normal day-to-day activities, for
obvious reasons, therefore I do not use Outlook in the Admin account.
Please tell me I dont have to switch to admin to do the backup!!!

Any suggestions greatfully recieved

OK, I found a solution.

What I had to do was:

1. Locate the Outbak.dll ( Do a search for it before starting this process )
2. Open Outlook
3. Go to menu "Tools->Options"
4. Select the "Other" tab
5. Press the "Advanced" Button in the "General" group on this dialog
6. Press the "COM Add-Ins..." button
7. Press the "Add" button
8. Navigate the displayed dialog window to the Outbak.dll
9. Select the Outbak.dll
10. Press the "Ok" button

and hay presto I have access to the Backup menu item on the File menu. And
whats even better is it works.

Thanks for being my "Fred" and I hope this is useful to somebody else.

Thanks Roady,

I sort of got to a very similiar solution myself once I took the time to
write everything down and therefore stop and think about the problem. I
posted it for others to reference, which you may want to delete if you dont
like the solution?

Thanks for such a quick reply though
