I, under instruction from Microsoft's help files, installed this add-on for
PowerPoint 2007 (the trial version) under the hope that it would allow me to
play a clip directly from a DVD on a PowerPoint presentation.

However, despite the fact that the DVD is correctly formatted, whenever I
select 'Disk Menu', upon attempting to load the menu, PowerPoint simply
crashes.

Is there a way I can get this to work without having to switch windows or
use the presenter key on my acer laptop?

With that said, lets see what we can see. You say the DVD is formatted
properly, can you explain what that means? Is it a home made DVD? Does it
use the UDF format? UDF is the format used by all commercial DVDs. Try
playing another commercial DVD, does it play? If so you have isolated the
problem.
