'Phantom' attachments to outgoing email

hi,
After receiving an Outlook error, which of course I don't recall the
specifics, I am now seeing all Outlook outgoing emails as having an
atrachement when I have not attached anything.
I have verified this by emailing to my other internet email clients and an
attachment is indicated in the header, but there is no attachement included
in the body of the email. If I do include an attachement in an outgoing
email, all is fine.
I'm using, XP Home, Outlook 2002 [10.3513.3501 SP-1] with all current non
SP-2 patches up to date.

As a last piece of info, when I send an outlook email to one of my internet
email clients, and it is received with this "phantom attachment', if I
forward that email back to my Outlook acount, it arrives **without** an
attachement present.
I'm a bit perplexed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, this is my first venture into MSFT's forums....

TIA.
Louis
