Phantom Message in Outlook

Outlook 2003 on Win XP-SP2

Anytime my wife does a send/receive, regardless of whether or not there is
anything in the outbox, Outlook responds that the server has reported Error
554, Address of sender in invalid.

Here is the server log -

A bit of further investigation shows that she received an email from
(e-mail address removed) that requested a receipt. She refused to send one
(I am woman hear me roar) and that's when the problem started.

Further info -

All new messages are sent properly.
I have setup the same account in OE on her machine and it works perfectly.
I have set up another account in the same domain using Outlook and it works
perfectly.
I have deleted her account in Outlook, closed Outlook, re-opened it, done a
send and receive. Works perfectly. No errors.
Now I add the original account back to Outlook and the error re-appears.

I conclude that somewhere in the bowels of Outlook, a phantom, albeit
malformed message, exists and Outlook is trying to send it each time it does
a send/receive.

So, I guess my question is, how do I delete that "phantom" message?

Thanks,

Mac
