Hi.
I recently installed Vista atop Windows XP (not an upgrade, but clean
install). As expected, the installation created the windows.old directory so
I could recover my data files and all went as expected. One thing remains,
however. There is an entry in the Windows Boot Manager for the old XP
Recovery Console.
I am familiar with bcdedit but when I run it, there is no entry for a legacy
OS or the recovery console. I even tried the third-party VistaBootPro to see
if I was missing something.
From what I understand, if a boot.ini still existed, the Windows Boot
Manager will pick it up, but I no longer have a boot.ini file, either.
So, where is this phantom Recovery Console entry coming from?
Thanks
