Could someone please suggest how to make phone calls using a calling card
directly from outlook contacts. What are the hardware and software required
and how to enter phone number and pin number of the calling card.

Cheers

Outlook's Phone Dialer has limited functionality. It's main purpose is to access
the Contacts phone list and optionally log the called number into the Journal.
You must have a regular phone attached to the PC via the modem in order to use
it as a dialer.

To use the PC as a telephony device, your modem must be a voice-modem type, and
they are normally supplied with telephony software to handle the Windows and
phoneline interface requirements.....but naturally this would be independent of
Outlook's interface.

You can configure your dialer to use a calling card via Outlook's menu as
follows: Actions > Call Contact > New Call > Dialing Properties > Edit > Calling
Card [tab].

Thank you Snarky. Do you know any particular software that would do the job,
or any particular brand modem that comes with a software?

I'm not sure what kind of job you're referring to now. If you simply want to use
Outlook's dialer, all you need is a phone connected to your modem. If you want
to use the PC as a telephony device, then you'll need a voice-modem and these
will just about always come with their own software.

My current system has a voice-modem but I don't have it setup to utilize this
feature.

My previous system had an excellent modem for this purpose and its software was
Microsoft's Phone (a very sophisticated app), but I don't think this product is
available anymore.

If you install a voice-modem and you're not satisfied with its telephony
software, do a Google search for other brands and check out their feature set.
