Phones in contacts has got a "(0)" inserted after country code

I have got "(0)" added to all the phonenumbers in my
contacts, like this: +44 (0) 1122334455. This happened
after having reinstalled W2K on my computer, the first
time I synchronized my Ipaq...

Does anyone know a way to remove these "(0)" easily -
without having to open each contact and remove it
manually ??
