Phonetic Guide for Chinese

Hi:

I am a new MS office 2004 Mac user. I've had no problem using PC
version of Word to add phonetics, but I don't know how it can be done
in Mac version. It seems that there's only support for Japanese
Language.

I tried reading through the newsgroup, and the Chinese Mac application
page, but I still can't find any resolution. Does anyone know if it's
possible to add phonetics to Chinese characters?

Hello Mindy,

You can add phonetics, to Chinese characters in Mac Word 2004, however, you
have to "register" your application in Japanese, to unlock the feature.

To do this just Drag and Drop your application onto the "Microsoft Language
Register" in the "Microsoft Office 2004: Additional Tools:Microsoft Language
Register" Folder.

In Mac Office we specifically designed the Phonetic Guide feature for
Japanese users, so we don't support its use with Chinese Characters, but you
can still try to it out and see if it works for your needs.
