Photo Album Capability in PowerPoint 2008?

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel

Office 2007 for Windows has the Photo Album capability (downloads pictures from a file directly into a slide show - each picture is on a slide and is formatted to fit the slide - all with one command). I can't find this capability on the Mac version 2008. Is there a way to do the same?

Thanks for any ideas or help!

You bet - It's coordinated with the iPhoto Library by default but can be set
to a different folder. Turn on the Toolbox (button on the Standard Toolbar)
then click its Object Palette button or go to View> Toolbox> Object Palette.
On the Object Palette click the Photos button (looks like a camera). Choose
Photos from the dropdown if necessary & drag the image to the slide. It will
be sized automatically but there is an AutoFit Options button that appears
at the lower right corner of the image.

Tip: Click the bent arrow icon in the upper right corner of the Object
Palette to adjust settings for default photo insertion size.

Thanks for the reply. But two other questions. When I tried to choose another folder with pictures, it said it wasn't an iPhoto Library or Photo Album. So I guess I would have to move my folder of pictures into iPhoto, correct?

#2 It looks like I have to drag each picture from iPhoto into a new slide. Is there a way to do all at the same time as in the Windows version 2007? It takes the whole folder and puts all of them into slides at one time.

Thanks!!

Hello again -

See the insertions below:

Nope - take a look at the lower left corner of the "Open Library or Folder"
dialog- directly to the left of the red lettering that distracted you :)...
Click the option for "Show Image Folders".

That I'm afraid you can't do... But if you're looking to create a slide show
of your photos why not just use iPhoto instead of PPt?

Hi,

I forgot to tell you that I did click on the Show Image Folders and all my pictures (jpeg) were in gray, so I couldn't select them.

#2 - I am using PowerPoint because I am adding a diary section to my vacation pictures. It is easy to add text and I can't find a way in iPhoto.

Thanks for your help!

The image files were gray because you can't add individual images to the
Photos palette - you have to add the *folder* in which they're contained :)

As to the limitation in iPhoto - one of the things they've managed to spirit
away to make room for other "improvements"... That's why I keep iPhoto 2.0.1
on my G5, but I forget that not everyone has done the same :)
