Photo Editor could do transparency why can't Picture Manager?

In Microsoft Office 2000, Photo Editor could easily change a color to
transparent, which I used very frequently as it was easier than most photo
editing software. Now with Office 2003 this feature was removed in the new
Picture Manager. This small feature made Photo Editor a very handy tool to
have, but now I find picture manager as worthless as the Imaging program that
comes with Windows. Photo Editor, when used in conjunction with MS Paint was
a very powerful tool for creating web icons.

I don't use Picture Manager but from what I've heard, it
can't do much of anything. All is not lost however:

Thanks for the link. Instead of running the install I just copied the Photo
Editor directory from the Office 2k disk and that worked like a charm.

Thanks again for your help.

Two questions:

Where to find the Photo Editor folder on the Office disk?
Have you check to see if your method keeps everything functional?
