Hello I'm having problems with jpeg files in photo editor. When I try
to open any *.jpeg photo editor loads but gives the error message
"unknown file format" and doesnt open the picture. If I rename the
picture to *.jpg it loads fine.

We are currently running a windows 2000 domain with SP2 to SP4.

Please help any idea's will be appriciated.

Hi, I too am facing this problem. I am aware of the article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;26015
and have tried it. Unfortunately it still doesn't solve it. Any other ideas

I'm working on some solution documentation for this. I had the same
problem and couldn't find crap on the MS site. So I spent the whole
damn afternoon figuring it out. (Cough - no thanks to the vendor)

Basically, you are missing some registry entries underneath:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Graphics Filters.
I'm not that garbage about the security settings. I mean you are most
likely missing the proper graphics associations underneath the \import
and \export keys.

Take a look and let me know if you are missing a "JPEG" folder (key)
underneath EITHER:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Graphics
Filters\import
or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Graphics
Filters\export.

If JPEG is listed under both, then you have another problem. Or
perhaps incorrect information under import \ export.
