Photo from Microsoft Word causes problems...

Hello -
I'm using Win XP Pro and Frontpage 2003. My client has only given me a
photo from a Microsoft Word (2003) document to use for a certain web page.
When I copy and paste the photo to my Frontpage page (which is the only way
I see to do it from Word), it comes through as a png named
pagename_files/image001.png and it is rather large in size.
Here's the other kicker: If I copy and paste this photo from Microsoft
Word into another photo program for the express purpose of converting it to
a Jpeg, then once it is converted I can put it on my web page fine but it
will not show up on a browser !! I have tried using both CorelDraw and
Microsoft PhotoDraw to convert the photo to a Jpeg, and neither one will
show up in the (latest) internet explorer browser.

Are you importing the JPG into FrontPage Images folder? I can't see why
you'd be having the problem. Perhaps telling us, step-by-step exactly what
you're doing, and whether you're viewing in a browser before or after
publishing... maybe the file name is wrong? That's the only thing I can
think.

Don't bother trying to copy photos from Word. You can save Word docs as HTML
files. This creates a folder of its pictures (by themselves), which you can
use. But you are better off using PhotoDraw (IMHO) 'cause CorelDraw seems to
suck as a "manipulator", tho it's so great for drawing graphics from
scratch.

It may be a CMYK colorspace jpg.

If you want to do it a down&dirty way...view the image in Word and take a
screenshot (PrtScrn key on your keyboard) open you image editor (not FP) and
Paste, Crop, save as a jpg (RGB) and give it a different name than the one
you were using. Then Import it into FP, then place in your layout.

This may be faster than trying to figure out why it's not working the other
way.

Hi Anne,
Just so you know, I've been working on Frontpage webs for 5+ years now
and I have used advanced photo editing programs (like Photoshop)
for 4+ years, and I've never seen this happen before. It's important to note
that when I do the convert-to-Jpeg method in PhotoDraw and save it as a Jpeg
in my web folder in general (NOT the images folder), the photo IS visible on
the web page itself from within the view of the Frontpage program. It is
when I preview it in a browser or publish the page that the photo
disappears.
That should let you know that I'm not getting the file name wrong. And
let me explain again what I'm doing. I am copying and pasting the photo from
Word into Microsoft Photodraw, then saving it as a Jpeg and saving it INTO
the specific web folder in general but NOT into the image folder. And the
files are visible in the web files; I can see them - they are Jpegs and they
are there as I saved them and I can click and preview them from within the
web files as well.
I think you are right about CorelDraw - that's why I went right to
PhotoDraw - I was thinking in terms of name-brand compatibility.

Don't Save it INTO FP...Import it or Drag/Drop.
Also make sure the jpg is RGB colorspace and not CMYK (oh, i said that
already...sorry)

Thanks to you all for your help and assistance. I finally found a way to
make the Jpegs work, although kind of by accident. I imported (as you all
suggested) the Jpeg into my FP web, but that alone didn't make any
difference. In addition, I did a 'Cut and Paste' for the jpeg within the FP
web files. It seems it didn't matter where I pasted them (the images folder
or whatever); just doing a cut/paste seemed to make the Jpeg register
correctly.
