Photo gallery problem

Jim Shaffner

Hi Everyone
I had a disk failure so went to my backup cd to copy onto a new computer. I
have discovered that when I backup to cd it did not copy my photo galleries
in Montage but as single photos with no text. I imported my site to a
location on a new computer and it still does not copy my photo galleries
correctly. I seem to have lost some sort of code for photo galleries. Does
anybody have any ideas? I'm using FrontPage 2003 and the site is at
Http://wetherillfamily.com
Thanks, Jim

You have to publish between location.

I don't know what you mean. I imported from my web site to my local
site......(my new computer).

Publish it from the server to your local machine - Importing doesn't bring
it all down...only what the browser sees, so you want to Publish not Import

Open FP
Open Web/Site
enter the http://wetherillfamily.com
you'll be prompted for un/pw
now you have your online server web opened in FP.

Then:
File | Publish
enter the location on your hardrive where you keep your web(s)

If you're running a server on your local machine the address may be like
http://localhost/anyname (no extension)

If you're running disk-based webs on local machine it may be something like:
c:\blahblahblah\my webs\anyname (no extension)

you may be prompted to create a new web at the new location

hth.

I don't think I did a very good job of explaining this problem, so I will
expand a little on it. This is really a weird issue. When I view my imported
web site on the new machine in design view, while looking at the Montage
photo gallery, I cannot edit the photos layout. They act as though they are
single photos. The odd thing is they are correctly formatted when viewed in
explorer, with the text appearing over each photo when the cursor is rested
on it.
thanks for everyone's help.

Hi
the advice worked well except that when I turned my remote site into the
local site and tried to publish to my hard drive the following error popped
up. "The destination web ignores case: the following pairs of names will
conflict..................................No files were copied, name all
files in your web iniquely and try again" Any ideas?
Thanks for everyone's help, Jim

yes..
on linux case matters, on windows it doesn't
to avoid problems always stick to lowercase names for files and
folders...and no spaces.

you might want to just publish down to a new web name on your local machine,
then deal with the case problem later
