Photo Gallery Question

Is there a way to make it so that when a thumbnail in a photo gallery is
clicked it opens in another window? The way it's set up now it takes the
place of the website so when someone closes the photo the whole website
closes. This makes no sense to me. And the slideshow layout doesn't label
the thumbnails only the main photo.

You need to make a separate page for each larger version of your photos and
link to those pages rather than the way it opens in a seemingly new page.
Now, viewers must use the BACK button to go back to the previous page. Read
this article, try JAlbum and you will never use FP's Photo gallery again:

" It is common knowledge that the Photo Gallery component that is built into
FP 2002 just doesn't work very well! There are no changes for this problem
for FP 2003 even though there are so many questions asked about it in the
FrontPage forum. My first tutorial about this subject was this page. Now
let's look at some other possibilities."

Steve,
Definitely, yes.

I set up my own gallery.

There is a page of thumbnails with captions (See Picture Album). On each
thumbnail is an <a href > which uses spawnJimcoPopup to open a separate
window with the picture and a caption contained within it. When this window
closes you return to the previous one.

You can search my website to get my code
Spawn is at http://www.jimcoaddins.com/Default.aspx

Experts here have recommended other software, JAlbum, for one

Steve,

I use a handy little program called thumnailer. You can demo/download at:
http://www.smalleranimals.com/thumb.htm
It will take a folder of pictures, generate thumbnail images with hyperlinks
to full size versions and can be configured to output a wide variety of
looks. There was quite of bit of set-up at the front end, but I have saved
several profiles that work well for me. Pretty cool little program. I use it
all the time and you can view examples of how I have use it at
http://www.lonedakota.com

Regards
