Photo Image Woes

I have several hundred photos stored in "My Pictures" in folders. The
folders show four of the pictures as a preview. However, when I try to open
the pictures, they are NOT showing up. File not supported format. They are
all JPG files over varying sized from a few kb to several mb...

I have tried every program I have from photoshop to picture it...nothing
seems to open them.

Anyone out there with some sage advise??
