Photo insertion problem: goes off top of page

J

Jonathan

Looked for this on the forum... no luck so here goes: When I try to insert a
photo into my Word2007 a tiny band of the image (only) shows right at the top
of the page on the screen. The bounding box runs off the page above. If I open
a text box and try to insert a photo inside that I get the same kind of
behavior, except that now the small band of photo is inside the text box and
the rest is out of the box above. However, there is only an empty bounding
box in this second instance. No photo image shows. The boundaries act like
boundaries when touched by the cursor, but I can't right-click the boundary
to format.. The cursor will change, but it cannot pull the image down. The
image won't come down with arrow key combinations that move graphic elements.

Anyone have any idea what is happening?

I'm not sure what is happening to make the inserted picture jump off page,
but I have always found it best to change the default insert to In Line and
then change the Text Wrapping by right-clicking and choose what is needed.
This just seems a more controlled way to insert pictures.

So go to Word, Options, Advanced tab (Alt+F, I,A) and scroll down to the
Cut, Copy & Paste options and change the setting for Insert/Paste Pictures
as... and choose In Line.

Make sure that the paragraph you're pasting into doesn't have Exact line
spacing.

Terry and Suzanne,
Thank you for your suggestions! Terry, I haven't tried that yet but will do
so. Suzanne, This happens even when there are no elements of any kind yet on
the page... a blank document. I realize that a blank document is not a simple
thing... it's a Normal template, etc., but I have had this happen in
previously created and saved doc's, too. I will experiment with the options.

I wonder if it happens for the other members of the family in their
accounts? there might be something I did that changed Word and that they will
not have done...

Again, thanks.

A blank document contains a single empty paragraph in Normal style. If
Normal (or that paragraph) has been modified to have Exact line spacing, it
could still be part of the problem.
