Photo Manager file size

M

Mark Joz

Quick question of why when I pick 4 pictures to print, and the files are say
110k to 140k files each, the spooler gets 20+ MB of info. What is it adding
to these pics to make the file so big. I am having remote locations trying
to print pictures and the spooler on the server is getting hammered with huge
file sizes. Any help I can get would be appreciated, either an explanation
or how I can turn it down.

Thanks in advance,
Mark

when memory goes hay
wire, it is usually referred
as a memory leak.

but my guess is that
your anti virals may
be going in circles
with the spooler
service.

try turning them off or
try using windows live
picture gallery from
microsoft.

see if it has better
performance than
the picture manager.

I'm guessing that these are JPGs ... JPGs are *highly* compressed.

Try saving the images as uncompressed BMPs instead of JPGs to get an idea of the
*true* size of the image, sans compression.

The printer doesn't natively handle JPGs or other image formats; the app that
prints to the printer needs to expand/uncompress the image and convert it to a
form that the printer understands.

But understanding that won't help stem the datatsunami. So ...

You might want to experiment with printer driver settings; that may help.
Mention the printer model in question; someone may know it and have some
suggestions.
