Photo resolution

I'm really new to PowerPoint and can't find this answer in Help. I
need to put together a show of just photos. No text, the photo will
fill the whole screen. All the photos are from a digital camera and
haven't been touched. Is there an ideal resolution or format they
should be in before placing them in PowerPoint? A few may need a
little cropping so I can change the resolution at that time if needed.
Thanks for any advice.

You don't really want to worry about resolution. You want to worry about
total pixels. You want to think of the maximum size (in pixels) of any
computer it will be played on and have the final picture (after all
cropping) match that size as closely as possible. For example, if you
want to display the pictures on a computer that has a size of 800x600
pixels, then you will get no benefit from having the pictures larger than
800x600. 1024x768 is a pretty standard size so you might just want to get
all your pictures as close to that size as possible.

Thanks! The PPT show will be run through a laptop and LCD projector
onto a screen in a meeting room. So I just have to find out what the
pixels are for the laptop is and match that as close as possible?

Thank you so much. I could have saved myself a bunch of time and
frustration by just coming here first!

Yeah - it's amazing that there is no mention of this in the help files.

And when you do find something on the web it rabbits on about dpi (dots per
inch) which is not relevant with powerpoint. It's all about pixels!

Sorry Jim - I'd forgotten about your add-in. I spend most time in the
windows ppt group - I'm a bit rusty in the mac group.
