Photos in incoming email not launching -- Why?

T

The Hun

Using OL2002, WinXP, on fairly new Sony.

All of a sudden, incoming email in html format are showing up fine,
but the photos within the pages are not. All I'm seeing now are empty
boxes with the little "x" in the upper left corner. Does anyone know
why, and how to fix it?

This is the first time it's happened. I re-booted the system and the
problem persists. I haven't loaded any new software, or uninstalled
any software today, or for several months for that matter. I can't
think of anything I did to purposely alter my system in any way
today. However, the system froze very briefly today and I noticed
that I then got some sort of pop-up message about not having some kind
of Active X controls. Again, I didn't change anything, not even
settings.

Thanks,

I just now went to Tools / Options / Security and changed the setting
from "Restricted" to "Internet." I'm not sure if I need to change any
settings by then going to Zone Settings / Custom Level. But once
there, the "Reset to" dialog box at the bottom of the window shows
"Medium."

Thanks.

The problem was fixed. But whether or not that's what caused the fix
is unknown. On the other hand, I'd assume all along that I never had
my setting set to Restrict anyway, so it's now where I thought it
always was. We'll see what happens.

that's probably not the cause and not a good move - but did it fix it?
