Photos Pop Up, Disappear and then Fade In Again

I have designed numerous PPT presentation in the MAC 2004 edition. I am now running the new 2008 edition. The photographs that I had previously timed to fade in "After Previous" (so that they would fade in slowly after the slide transitioned) now pop up for about a fourth of a second, then disappear only to fade in again. This is totally annoying! The only solution I've been able to come up with and this would be enormously time consuming to do with all of my presentations is to insert a timing delay on each of the initial photos to appear in the slides. Can you think of a better solution?
