It's going to depend on how you are accessing the web as well as several
other factors.

What a useless response (again) from you. Don't you think that anyone
putting up a web site will know that it will take longer to load with 56k
dialup than with T1 access?

Besides, the OP is working in Adobe, so he/she is not a dummy.

I think he/she wants to know if there is anything that can be done to speed
up the loading time for the images - like sizing them, changing the image
type or resolution.

Why the hell do you post crap like this where you appear to know what you
are talking about, but don't give any answers?

i was looking for some constructive ideas as how to speed
the loading process. this is only a problem with my site,
not others. i was wondering what resolution was best for
optimum loading. thisis not a server or a browser issue.
any other ideas??

Make sure to resize and crop them and to use "save for web" in Adobe Elements.
I also use Adobe Eelements 2.0 for pics I put on my site, and it is the best
program I have found in the price range for the job. Try to shoot for less than
40k, smaller is better. If you are using Publisher 2003 be aware that it uses
the full sized pic file for the uploaded htm rather than a downsized version
like Publisher 2000 does after cropping, etc. Bottom line is to use your Adobe
Elements to make the pic file as small as possible, yet still of adequate
quality for web viewing. Medium compression in the "save for web" deal is
usually OK to use.

They should not be in 300 dpi, but more like 96 dpi for web viewing. Also, I
usually resize to 640x480 pixels before bringing into Publisher 2000. But you
need to be even more careful with Publisher 2003 since it may upload the full
sized file even if you doctor it in Publisher (publisher 2000 only uploads the
cropped and resized file, so I don't try to get it perfect in Adobe Elements).

Thank you - I do try to help. The questions I ask here are thesame questions
I would ask anyone face to face. Sometimes they seem like the answers are
obvious but I've learned *never* to make assumptions about what someone
knows. I prefer to knock out the obvious things first then get down to the
nitty-gritty.

Don't bother asking JokeAnn for answers.

I'm sure she's nice, maybe even attractive, but her answers are a waste of
time, most of the time.

"Try" is the operative word.

What obvious thing did you knock out? "It depends on how you access the
Internet.." is not a question, but a put off. If you said "What kind of
connection do you use to access the Internet -dialup, high speed ADSL? Then
you would get some information.

I suppose your problem isn't Publisher knowledge, just simple effective
communications.
