Physical % complete does not roll up

I have tasks and subtasks for which status is set by physical % complete.
For this field, the lwest level of subtask rulls up to the paren task as
expected.
However, the parent tasks do NOT roll up to their summary levels.

the second higher level of summary reports 0% phyiscal complete, and it is
grayed out so it cannot be entered.

Hi,

I've never seen Physical % Complete rollup, not even to the first summary
task level.
How could you addup for instance 50% of the drawings complete, and 20% of
the walls?
What would be the meaning?

Hope this helps,

Well, it must be a calculated field, or it wouldn't be grayed out.

All I can tell you is that one level of roll up works, but the second level
doesn't.

I don't take physical % complete so literally. I use it so I can assess
independently what is actually completed and how much effort is left,
independent of the hours or dollars expended or the hours or dollars
remaining.

I have some tasks that consist of many many smaller tasks, some iterative,
and maybe a few milestones. the workers tend to treat these as LOE, because
the smaller tasks are not worth tracking and statusing indepenedently.
Nevertheless, being in the thick of it, and with a few interviews, I can get
a sense of what the Physical status is, and I can compare that to hours and
costs.

Hi,

Is it a custom field?
I can't guess from here which field it might be. What do you see when you
double click the header?
Field name, Title?
