Hi,

As told, picking a color from screen using the "pipet tool" does not work properly on my powerpoint 2008 for mac: the color does not match to the picked one.
The best test: I create a blue square. I create a second one and pick the color of the first : the colors of the 2 do not match (the second is always lighter).
One the same machine powerpoint 2004 does the work perfectly. Any idea to solve this issue ?

Many thanks in advance !

For PowerPoint 2008, try using the Format Painter.
The "pipet" tool (Pick Up Object Style and Apply to Defaults)
has been deprecated in PowerPoint 2008 and does not behave
as expected.

The Format Painter (paintbrush icon) should be on your Standard toolbar.
If you cannot see the Standard toolbar, click on the lozenge-shaped
button at the top right of the PowerPoint window.

To use the Format Painter, select an object, click on the Format
Painter icon, and then click on the target object where you wish to
apply the styles. Double-click on the Format Painter icon to apply
the selected object's style to multiple objects.

Hope this helps...

Hello again,

I gather that there is no way to pick a color from a picture then ?

From a picture... There is no preset way to do this in
PowerPoint 2008. As I mentioned, the Pick Up Object Style
functionality in PowerPoint 2008 appears to be broken, and the
Format Picture function only picks up styles such as line, fill,
gradation and so on, not a spot color from a bitmapped image or
picture.

However, you could copy your picture onto the clipboard,
use a program such as Paintbrush (open-source
and free to download), Fireworks or Photoshop to paste
the picture onto an empty canvas and sample some spot colors
using the eyedropper tool. You can then copy the RGB or HSV color values
into PowerPoint to build your own "swatch" or color set there.
It requires a bit more work, but apparently those are the options
available in this case.

I understand. Many thanks for the quick replies. I guess that, for now, I ll stick to the good old powerpoint 2004 ... I am kind of amazed that such a great tool is not better maintained...

Thanks again !
