Hi There! - I think you may have misunderstood the point Bob G. was trying
to make... It isn't that you can't fill cells with any color you want, you
just cant do it using the Pick Fill Color command (Eyedropper) in the Fill
Color button lists (Drawing, Formatting toolbars and the Borders & Shading
section of the Formatting Palette). You can, however, select any of the
colors displayed by the swatches in those lists... Just click the swatch.
The Eyedropper can only be used to fill a shape (object), not for adding
fill color to cells. To use it, select a drawn shape, choose the command,
then click on anything colored (including a filled cell) to fill the shape
with that same color. This feature isn't available in PC XL (as of 2003
anyway - not sure about '07).

Hi Bob and thanks for the reply. I guess I'm a bit confused as I'm
used to working on a pc. So on a mac, I cannot have a large selection
of fill colors for the cells in my spreadsheets? What qualifies as an
object?
Thanks again for your insight.

Unfortunately, that selection is for objects, not cell fills. If an object
is selected when you choose this tool, the choice will be active.
