Pics in Word

I downloaded an attachment in Word with my PC at work and I get
everything fine. When I download the same Word doc with my iMac, I get
the document without the pics. I called the Geek Squad and they said
it was an Internet security setting that had to be turned off by
calling MacIntosh. I called MacIntosh and they referred me to
Microsoft. They said maybe it was the format the photos were sent in.
Either way, I am at a loss as to how I can display photos.

Since you used title case for "Geek Squad" I assume you're referring to the
support group from Best Buy, a retailer that doesn't deal in Apple systems.
They're throwing some PC smoke up your tailpipe 'cause they have no more
idea why than... Well, let's just say they have little knowledge of Macs ;-)

The most likely reason has nothing to do with security, but more probably
that the doc was created on a PC & someone pasted the images into it. That
causes PC Word to store the pix as EMF or WMF files which aren't Mac
compatible... Likewise, Mac PICT files won't work on a PC.

There are other possibilities as well but before going that route, are there
any placeholders or other indicators where the pix are supposed to be
displayed in the doc? If so please describe in detail. Also, check in
Word>Preferences>View to be sure you *do* have a check on Drawings & *don't*
have a check on Image Placeholders.
