Picts in PPT X files messed up in PPT 2004

I have many files ocntaining picts copied from matlab. It worked perfectly
in PPT X. In PPT 2004, all pictures have lost colour and if I ungroup them,
many other details are also lost. This is a big, big issue for me. Anyone?

PS
Can I reinstall PPT X without impairing the 2004 installation?
