Picture compression doesn't work on WordXP 2002 (v10.2627...)

Despite it being described as a new 'feature' for XP - it's the only model
it 'doesn't' work on

it worked fine on 97 and 2K

Does it work on Word 2003?

wondering whether to downgrade or upgrade

Hi Jethro,

The compress picture feature was not in Office version apps
prior to Office XP (Word 2002). Word 97 and higher did a better
job of internally storing graphics files (i.e. it basically stores
them at disk size rather than display size).

How well the Compress picture feature works (it's better in
Word 2003 than in Word 2002) can depend on a variety of factors,
including if the graphic has a lot of different colors or in large
part a consistent color set/background, for example.
