Check where those JPGs came from. The file needs to be an RGB JPG in 24-bit
colour, not JPEG2000 or any of the other newer formats.
Also: It's possible that during the upgrade, your system preserved some old
preferences it should have replaced. To cure it, carry out the following
procedure:
1) Find and drag the file Normal.dotm to your desktop. Unless you have
moved it, it should be in
/Users/ ~ /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/User Templates/
2) If the following files exist, Remove or rename them:
~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Word Settings (10)
~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Word Settings (11)
3) User/Library/Preferences/com.Microsoft.Word.plist
4) User/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008 (the whole folder!)
5) Then Repair Permissions with Disk Utility.
That should fix it.
Cheers
Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel
Recently (last week) upgraded my systems (both to Leopard and to 2008). Today,
went to insert a picture into a document and I am getting the message that the
application cannot open the file. That this is an unsupported graphic format.
This is happening with every jpg on my hard drive. Help - I need to get a
report out.
