picture manager saving not working correctly

I have been using Microsoft picture manager (with my XP) for years, now for
some reason the last month or so it is giving me big problems.

I edit a lot of pictures, close it and when asked if I want to save I click
Yes, It acts like it is working, takes some time (depending on how many
pictures) but then when I open the pictures later, they are in their original
form - no brightness or color change???

Sometimes I edit from the media reader - sometimes from hard drive, both are
doing the same thing.

I did install Nero a few months ago, I didn't notice that if effected my
ability to use picture manager (except it always wants to open my pictures)
I do not use it much as I am more familiar with picture manager and it works
good for me - Usually.....

Delete the thumbnails from the OIS folder, see if that helps.
It is in a folder similar to this: (hidden)
C:\Documents and Settings\<<user>>\Application Data\Microsoft\OIS
You can delete all the thumbnails.
