Picture Manager should work more like ACDSee - Where is Explorer??

The new Office Picture Manager shows promise, but in many respects, it is a
step backwards. I think this feature should enhance the basic picture
viewing of the operating system (XP). There should be an option for OPEN in
the file menu, where you can open up a single file or a group of files.
There should also be the option for an Explorer type pane on the left so that
you can click on a folder and have it display the pictures in that folder as
thumbnails, filmstrip, etc.

When viewing a folder full of pictures, the mouse wheel should be able to be
used to move through the folder. Scrolling with the wheel or hitting the
right/down arrow key should take you to the next picture. I have artists
that need to quickly compare two pictures and use ACDSee now to scroll back
and forth.

Everything else is great - cropping, color/brightness control, rotation,
etc...but the file management portion needs a lot of work...

Why was the standard Windows GUI (File menu with New, Open, Save, etc)
changed?? Why is there no support for Explorer??

Shortcuts> Add Picture Shortcut...
Add the top level folder you want. I put My Documents there. You can expand
subfolders from there, exactly like Explorer. Contents of the selected folder
will show in the right pane in whichever of the three views you want.

The right arrow key does that.
