Picture/Object in List

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel How do I associate a picture(object) to a specific cell in a list, so I can sort, filter, etc. (Normally objects just "float" on a spreadsheet and if you sort, objects will not move with the row they are placed.)

Thank you,

Basically, this doesn't work in Excel 2008.

If an image is wholly contained within the cell that contains its top left
corner, and its properties are set to "Move and size with cells", then if
you move the cell the picture will move. If you filter, it will
appear/disappear.

But if you SORT the cell, the picture won't move.

Broken, I'd say.

Cheers

Not really 'broken' -- Excel was never designed for that type of thing. It
seems there was some sort of devilish contrivance once discussed but I'm
rather certain it involved a bit of sophisticated VBA.

The best option I know of if someone insists on using Excel for such a
purpose is to create hyperlinks to the externally stored images as a field
in the Excel data range. Quite frankly, there are much more effective
methods for managing image libraries, including iPhoto. If the images are
just a field of data (such as pictures of products in an inventory list) a
true database app like FileMaker Pro is a much better choice than Excel.

Thank you John and Bob for your comments. Great help!! I am disappointed that this feature is not available in Excel 2008.
At least the filter works!
Thank you!!
