Entourage will not let me paste a .jpg in an email... I have tried dragging
from several apps... And also directly from the finder.... Then I tried via
insert (message, insert, etc).... Same thing - nothing happens....

Any ideas? Thanks

As an update to this -- I gave up and attached it -- when I received a copy
back of the email (basically I was cc'd) -- the attachment was duplicated 8
more times (total of 9)... Increasing the message size to well over 4 mb.
The attachment area was only showing one attachment during send and during
editing of the message.

Does this happen every time, or was this a one time incident?

Does this happen every time, or was this a one time incident?

This was the first time I tried (I have only had the mac since Sunday -- and
its a brand new install)

It gets stranger -- as I said earlier I got a cc (via yahoo groups) of the
message - just showing attachments (and I have that email in my address book
and pictures showing for addressees turned on)... So another person replied
_i asked what they 'saw' -- they got the message w/ the pic 6 times in the
message body... (for each I tried to paste in the message I bet)... And 2
times attached (for each time I attached and deleted and re-attached)...
Funny thing was I couldn't see those in-body pics until they replied to my
message.

Nor did I see the in body pasted images at all during composition

I have completely closed entourage, restarted Mac and restarted entourage..
Just tested again -- same issue - no pic shows up in compose mode..
Therefore I cannot resize a large image (as they always paste in very
wide...) I sent the message to myself (another account) and it arrived w/ an
attachment only... Not in body.... (but when I hit send - no attachments
showed in the attachment bar or in the message itself)

Thanks

Are you new to Macs and/or Entourage?

Let's go over some basics....

1) when you attach a picture in your email, the contents do not show up in
the original message (compose mode). Same goes for a URL. It will not show
hot (blue) until you send.
2) if the attachment is zipped, it will not show up in the message body when
received.
3) you must resize pictures before you add them
4) pictures added to HTML message body will always show up

Hmm;

Re 1 & 2 -- that's just silly -I realize you don't have control over this -
but can you give me a link where I can give MS a feedback on how this should
be changed (as this does not match any other email programs modis operandi)

Re 4 - this statement negates your first statement unless your referring to
AFTER its received. -- especially since I was composing an HTML in the first
place... So your saying I cant see what I compose?? (What person does NOT
want to see what they are composing?) (also - the command "insert picture"
leads a user to believe they will be able to see 'said' picture)

I read the faq you sent -- and it stated any image over 400 will not show in
the message (its not specific if it means during composing or receiving the
message).

16) Attachments over 400KB do not show in messages.
Entourage 2008 will not show jpgs on the message if they are over 400kb.

When working in Office, you can use the ³Send Feedback² option under the
Help menu in all of the Office applications.

When you add in Plain text, the image is an attachment and will show up
below the message when it is received. When you are composing in HTML, the
message shows in the body of the message as you write. If you are not seeing
the image you add when in HTML, then something is wrong.

I'm not sure. This has never been asked. I would guess for sending.

Thanks --- I read Bill's message on resizing thread (very helpful thanks)
while these steps are more time consuming at least its a workaround.... The
images don't show up if I copy, drag or even start an email from iphoto
(using under 400k size)... But if I use the object toolbox ... And 600x480
size I can then see them in the message before I send .... I cannot click on
them though (no 'corner grabbers' (I cant remember the tech term for those
:D).... So even deleting them is difficult (cause you cant tell which you
have selected...)... Anyways - I think there is a definite bug here..
:D
Thanks for your help (both you and Bill).
