Hi

I'm assembling a resource manual which is collecting documents from multiple
sources and creating the one document. My problem is that some of the
objects I'm insering into the doc are over 1 MB just by themselves.

How do I change these images to take up the least amount of space?

The path I've followed so far has been.

I received the image as a PDF [though this was a scanned document of an
official form originally]
I did screen shots of the PDF [resized the image] and then cut and 'paste
special' [picture] - thinking this was going to be the best size.

Any help much appreciated

Hi Anne

Brilliant - thanks. I've reduced the size somewhat [to 4 MB] and will
continue playing to get it down further. It looks like Word 2003 is the way
to go to save the mucking around.

Cheers Sue

Use Irfanview from www.Irfanview.com. You want to "compress" the images
before inserting. If you have Word 2003, you can try selecting one of them,
then hit Format-->Picture and choose Compress, then choose "all pictures in
document"...

Well, it's ALWAYS best to compress the files BEFORE you put them into Word.
