picture transfer does not work in word anymore

I've just purchase a new old laptop and installed all that I had on the
computer to be able to work as before. I used to be able to transfer pages
with little pictures from the web to my Word pages and than changes thoses
little pictures in line and move them where I want them , But now I can't do
it anymore. I have checked to install all Windows updates and office updates
but no improvement. Anyone knows where to search next or what could cause
that . It would be really appreciated because I am in the middle of a big job
and I need that to finish it

just want to add that the pictures does not even appear anymore when I paste
it in the Word page as it use to do previously but if I drag it it will come
along fine. Before I use to copy the part that I need from the web site and
paste it in Word.the pictures were coming with it and appear as soon as I
paste the content in Word but now only the frame appear no picture inside.
In case you wonder , I have the permission of the web site to copy that
material.

It's not quite clear if this is a Word issue but you
may want to turn off the [x] Picture Placeholder setting
in Tools=>Options=>View in Word to see if that makes a
difference.

yes it is the pictures that do not copy anymore strange why. When I try to
double clic any of them an error appear saying the picture does not exist but
the surrounding frame is there. But where went the contents ?

It is frustrating, even my computer does not do it any more but before I burn
the files on a CD to transfer them on my laptop, it was working and was
saving me a lot of time instead of transfering each pic one by one. Now where
to look I have compared all my switches in the options they are all the same.
Help......
