At this point I don't have a clear idea of why you cannot preview a
Publisher web page in IE7. If you read through the newsgroup you will see
various threads on the subject. In the short term if your uninstall IE7 via
add and remove, Windows will revert to IE6. You can always reinstall it
later once we figure out the issue.
Before you do that however, it sounds like you are trying to use a Master
page. Don't...that will create problems for you. Save it for your print
documents. If you want a background, then look under Help for "background"
and it will tell you how to do it faster than I could here.
In terms of duplicating things on other pages, once you get your first page
set up with the design elements that you want on each page, then Insert >
Page and look for the option to duplicate everything on that page. Other
design components can simply be copied and pasted. Check "insert page" under
help for more details.
If you are having text shift, its possible you are also using word wrap
around an image. Once again, this doesn't work in a web page in Publisher.
It is one of a number of print document techniques that don't convert to
HTML well. Other things would include using nonweb friendly fonts, columns,
bullets, indents...
Don't forget the Design Checker...it will help you spot other issues.
Take the time to at least scan the topics under Help for building a website
with Publisher. There is a wealth of information in there. You don't have to
know each topic, but it could be helpful in the future when you run across a
problem, or a design challenge...then you can go back and read the details.
