Pictures cant be viewed in word doc

When I try to insert a picture into a word document the
picture does not appear only the black outline where the
picture should be appears. However when I click on print
preview the picture appears and also appears in the word
doc when you close print preview, but if you scroll down
the page the picture disappears again. This problem has
only occured since installing servicepack 2 for XP and
has affected several friends computers in the same way
(very annoying). Any ideas on how to fix this would be
great.

In Word, click on Tools | Options | View | uncheck the "Picture
placeholders" box | OK.

Thanks for the reply but that box is already unchecked.
Any other suggestions?

The next thing to try is to reduce or turn off hardware acceleration in
your graphics driver. Click on Start | Control Panel | Display |
Settings | Advanced | Troubleshoot.
