Pictures compression

When pasting a picture in Word, is it automatically compressed to lower
resolution to save space? If yes, what is the way to override this?
Thanks, George

Hi George,

Word does automatically compress pictures (i.e. it
can store them internally at approximately the same
size as listed in Windows explorer, rather than expanded
to their 'display size' (usually much larger) but no,
it does not automatically run the compress picture feature
or change the resolution. It will, however size an
inserted graphic that does not include embedded pixel
per inch resolution based on the settings in
Tools=>Options=>General=>[Web Options]=>/Pictgures\
