Pictures disappear when inserting or pasting in word 2007

When I try to insert a picture from a file or my camera it only shows blank.
I have unchecked the placemarkers and this doesn't work. I can see the
picture briefly when I try a resize on the empty space but then it disapears
again.
I've inserted hundreds of pictures without a problem before and have only
now began having a problem.
I've re-installed office 2007 twice

Any help would be appreicated.

Sounds like a video driver needs upgrading.
Read the fourth FAQ here, it is Publisher specific but it is valid for Word as
well.

I've changed video drivers to the latest beta. That didn't solve the problem.
My card is Nvidia Geforce GTS 8800. I'm using Vista Ultimate so I don't
know where to slow the hardware acceleration down as suggested.
I'm wondering if the problem is in the WIA module.

I un-installed Office 2007 (3rd time) and then edited the registry making
sure it was gone. Re-installed Office and the problem was solved. I can
once again import pictures and they are as they should be.

The problem was not drivers on the video card, but with word itself.
Powerpoint was able to insert pictures properly when word kept them hidden.

I don't know what the problem was, but if it happens again I'll start using
powerpoint.
