In outlook express I can scroll down and look at pictures. I notice in
outlook when I don't have that feature. So how do I view pictures that are
emailed to me in outlook?

As attachments, if they aren't embedded HTML graphics. Outlook can't display
graphics attachments inline as OE does.

By design, Outlook does not display attached images inline. Outlook is a
business application. OE is targeted to consumers and the needs of the two
groups are different in this area. Administrators consider inline display a
security issue and don't want it.

Outlook only shows images inline with HTML mail items or RTF mail items with
OLE embedded images. Images in plain text mail items only show as
attachments (that you can open or save).

I'm tearing my hair out over this problem. When I (or someone else) sends me
HTML formatted message, it displays just fine in both web-based email
software and in Outlook Express, but not when I download it into
Outlook-2003. Note, I'm having OL leave a copy on the server so that I can
download it into both OE and OL. This problem did not exist before upgrading
from OL-2000.

Here's the killer that makes this problem mind-boggling: When I create
e-mail (HTML format again) in Outlook and send it to myself, it displays in
Outlook just fine. Note that I have several accounts so that the software
doesn't know I'm sending it to myself. I've fiddled around with OL options
settings to no avail.

Anyone know of a solution?

This newsgroup is for support of Outlook 97, 98, 2000, 2002 & 2003 from the
Office family for Intel PCs. For Outlook Express (OE) support try posting in
one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.inetexplorer.ie4.outlookexpress for OE 4.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...express&SLCID=US&sd=GN&id=fh;en-us;newsgroups
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...express&SLCID=US&sd=GN&id=fh;en-us;newsgroups
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...express&SLCID=US&sd=GN&id=fh;en-us;newsgroups
microsoft.public.internet.mail.mac for the Macintosh version of OE
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...ess.mac&SLCID=US&sd=GN&id=fh;en-us;newsgroups

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups). The links under the newsgroup
references are for use with MS's web newsreader (not exactly the best way to
post but it works for some people)

Also a good source of Outlook Express info can be found here:
