Pictures in Windows Word doc disappear when opened on Mac

Processor: Power PC

It's just like the subject line says. A word doc I created on my Gates Crate at work, in Word 2002, has a lot of pictures in said document. However, when I opened the doc on my Mac at home (G4 PowerPC, Word 2004), all of the pictures have disappeared. Their places are still there, and word still thinks that there are pictures there.....they're just invisible.

I unchecked the placeholder option in both windows Word and my Mac word. Nothing changes. I've tried importing via email attachment, via flashdrive, and via remote desktop connection between the two computers, with my harddrive showing up on the Windows directory (In this case, the transfer was done by drag and drop.). This is infuriating.

I can open docs created in Mac Word on the Windows machine.

Help.

I have similar problem: we have many Word doc reports which have Excel
charts as pictures (enhanced metafile). If there is only one picture
on one page, Mac Word (new laptop, latest versions) shows the report
OK. If there are two or more charts=pictures on one page and Word
handles them together, then the first latter one is not shown
properly. It has very thick lines and/or does not show all details,
however it is not empty.

We have also tried different ways to importing the file to Mac, no
difference. We have tried to save the Word doc in different versions
(Word 2007, Word 97-2003, etc). I think PDF should work, at least for
just reading the report on Mac, I have not tested that yet..

Maybe you get some ideas of this, and hopefully someone knows how to
solve this!
