Pictures not showing in Chrome or Firefox

My index page has suddenly stopped showing some of the pictures in
Firefox & Chrome.
Interestingly when I looked at the source on the web pages it had
changed their location to index_files and renamed them.
In page view (HTML) on front page - it hadn't.
The index_files folder doesn't show up in the Front Page directory.
However I can find it in explorer.

I have temporarily gt round the problem by manually FTPing the
index_files folder to the server.
I now get low res images appearing in Chrome & Firefox.

Does anyone know what on earth is happening?
It's only a few images that are affected. (the top cluster around the
school building).

The images are in VML text-boxes, and VML does
not render in FireFox. Lucky FireFox users will
see instead a low quality .gif image of the
text-box and its content, unlucky users will see
nothing.

As you have found, the downlevel .gif images are
stored in the pagename_files folder, which will
rarely be seen in FrontPage, and is sometimes
hidden in other FTP clients as well, making them
difficult to upload unless you Publish the entire
website.

Text boxes, like all VML graphics, should be
avoided on websites. See

for other examples of why VML should not be used.

Your images could more easily be placed in a
simple table, than in text boxes.

I redid the images a week or so ago and must have used text boxes
where I had not used them before.
