Pictures won't print when "current page" is selected

Hi, I am having a curious problem printing images in my Word document
when I tell it to print only the current page.

All of my images are in text boxes and have been inserted directly
from the file--they are not links to the files.

If I tell the entire document to print, the images show up correctly
in the quick preview and in the print preview, and they print
correctly.

However, if I check the "current page" box, or tell it to print a
specific range of pages, *none* of the images show up in the standard
print preview, in the quick preview window, and they do not print with
the rest of the document.

Does anybody know the cause of this problem and how to fix it?

Many thanks.

Since you posted to the Mac Word news group we're willing to assume you are
using some version of Word on a Mac. However, that leaves at least six
possible versions, each having a variety of update levels in combination
with a number of different Mac OS versions... And we haven't even started to
consider type of Mac or printer variations as yet.

Without any information pertinent to which of those myriad potential
combinations you might be working with it's pointless to throw out arbitrary
guesses. This isn't a "plain vanilla" problem with a push-button fix - if it
were you'd have found a variety of postings & solutions already available in
other threads. But to help resolve it we need to have specific details :)

Sorry about that!

I am using Mac Word 2008 (v12.1.2) on Leopard 10.5.4. I am running an
Intel Mac, 2.5 GHz, with 4 GB of RAM. The problem occurs no matter
which printer is selected--whether it is an HP Color Laserjet 4600, an
HP Laserjet 1022n, or even Adobe PDF 8.0.

I'd like to reiterate that when print "all" is selected, both the
quick preview and the full print preview show the images correctly,
and everything works fine. It is only partial printing that causes a
problem.

Your help is very much appreciated.

OK - Now there's a little more to go on :)

I've not seen any similar reports & I haven't been able to recreate the
issue here using a comparable configuration. Nether my Epson, HP or Adobe
drivers fail to deliver when using Current Page or a page range containing
images. It sounds like "almost" everything else is as it should be,
especially since HP printer drivers are [I believe] kept up to date by OS X
and there isn't any problem with "disappearing" images when you print the
whole doc, so...

The question becomes: "Why are you putting the images in Text Boxes?" By
doing that you're effectively nesting one type of object within another. In
and of itself that isn't *wrong* if it's kept to a minimum. But if there is
any significant amount of this it makes the document far more complex & the
printer may have difficulty "seeing" everything it's supposed to print.

To narrow things down create a copy of he doc but remove the images from &
delete the Text Boxes on one of the same pages that's currently presenting
the problem. Just apply Square Text Wrapping to the images or set them to In
Line with Text & try that page as Current Page. See if that makes a
difference.

If not reply back with a bit more detail about the type of image files & any
other details you can offer.

I always put images in text boxes with their caption, so as to keep
them together as conveniently as possible. I had no idea that it made
the document really complex. It's just always worked best for me,
since all images and tables must have captions in my document

The images are almost all TIFFs but some of them are JPEGs.

I think I should be fine as long as I just print out the whole
document at the same time. Even so, it seems like a pretty annoying
bug...

Yeah, my bet would be that it's a bug, too.

Where do you have those text boxes anchored?

If the anchor for the text box is not on the current page, then this would
be "correct" (albeit annoying) function.

If your text boxes are anchored within the current page, then yes, I would
say that's a bug :)

Cheers

Yup--the text boxes are all anchored on the same page.

Which brings me to another annoying bug--on previous versions of Word,
I could actually move the text box anchor if I chose to "show anchors"
in the options. In Word 2008, though, the anchors disappear before my
mouse even gets to them, even if I chose to show them!

I have exactly the same problem as you about the anchors disappearing
before you can get to move them.
Very annoying indeed. Have you got news about that issue?

Thanks

If you click in/on an object, the anchors will appear.

If they then disappear, it is because the object is no longer selected.

What could have caused the selection to move?

Cheers
