on the home page can i make my photos fade in and out? i have never created
a website before and never used front page before, but was told i could do
this. can anyone help me?

Flash would be the best way to accomplish this. Frontpage will help you
create HTML but I would not rely on it for images as much.

Thank you for your quick response. I appreciate it. Like I said I am brand
new to this and I know what a flash player is, but is there a program I need
to download to get the photos into Flash and then into my web page? Sorry if
this sounds like a really dumb question.

Along this same line of questioning, is there a way to make photos "dissolve"
as part of the display, like you can do in the transition part of PowerPoint?
