Pie Chart Formatting Woes!

B

Bill

My pie chart has three slices. There is a box drawn around it that I want to get rid of.
I've done right-click "Format Object", and I see that there is no line or fill selected.
How do I get rid of the annoying box around the pie chart?

Also, it's a bear formatting the text. for Data Labels next to the three slices. I've
got "Show Label and Percent" selected. Despite the fact that it's the bottom slice with
plenty of horizontal area, it breaks my text label "Native Language 23%" like so:

Native
Languag
e
23%

(reducing the font makes it unreadable - the font is already way too small)

I can select the label/percent area and drag it around, but it won't let me resize it.

HELP!!

Thanks so much,

Bill.

Problem 1:
In edit mode for the chart, double click on the line. Depending on which
border this actual is (Chart Area or Plot Area) a dialog box will appear that
allows you to set your Border to None (under the Patterns tab).

Problem 2:
Also while in edit mode (and only in edit mode) adjust the size of your
chart by clicking on and dragging the outer most border unitl your problem
text has adjust itself.

Just wanted to add to this little trick in case it helps someone -- I
*always* have a hard time selecting the plot area on pie charts, especially
if there isn't a line around it, so I usually select the plot area in the
drop-down box on the toolbar (when I have the chart opened). There should be
a selection box that lists everything -- chart area, plot area, legend,
axis, data series, etc.
